2k Resistor Color Code- Overview and tips
The below image showing 2k resistor color code with four band:
2k ohm Resistor color code:
Red, Black, Red, Gold
Band | Color | Value |
---|---|---|
1st Red | 2 | |
2nd Black | 0 | |
3rd Red | 100 | |
4th gold | 5{42041a7992ac3be9e9e29c856254fb498d8c7935d7cf8512da6802e8688e734a} | |
2k±5% Ω |
2k Resistor colour Code calculations are:
1st band= Red= 2 (1st digit)
2nd band= Black= 0 (2nd digit)
3rd band= Red= 100 (multiplier)
4th band= Gold= ±5% (tolerance)
Therefore, 20×100±5% ==> 2000Ω ==> 2kΩ
And tolerance considered as ==> 5%of2000 ==>100Ω
Final assumed value of 2kΩ resistor is between 1900 to 2100Ω
Caution:
If resistor contains Brown and Red color bands then look it properly, this because red and brown appears to be very similar when it is already used in a circuit. Use proper light to do it.
Other methods:
Use a digital multimeter to check the value of a resistor. But DMM (digital multimeter) does not see correct values when a resistor is connected in a circuit, in such places color code comes handy.
